On the Saxon Wine Route visitors will find picturesque farms and estates in this over.800 year old wine region.
The “cradle” of Saxony, as the town of Meissen is also known, is considered "the birthplace of wine" in the Saxon Elbe. The crossed blue swords on the "white gold" of the West, porcelain, have helped the city to fame.
The wine also plays a major role in Radebeul. Visitors to Wackerbarth can experience the methods of modern wine production and baroque castle. The former electoral vineyard house Hoflössnitz, the Karl May Museum, the State Sachsen or DDR-Museum "time travel" are also worth a visit.
A further highlight is a trip to the Baroque Moritzburg Castle with its beautiful pond.
There is no better way to experience the Elbe from Dresden than on board a historic paddle steamer of the Saxon Steamship Company.
