The Dresden Royal Palace was once one of the most magnificent castle and the most important Renaissance buildings in Germany. Since 1485, Dresden was the permanent residence of the Saxon electors and kings. The key architectural character of the Dresden Royal Palace was 1548-1556. It is about the reconstruction and modernisation 20th Century and beyond, still a stronghold of the High Renaissance. As such, planned, constructed and used for centuries by the princes and kings as a place of power and representation, mark a few walls and doors closed to the outside the impression of the defense.
On February 13, 1945, the Royal Palace was destroyed by fire. In the decades following the war, the Royal Palace had to be defended vigorously against demolition plans. 1986 began the rebuilding. But only in Saxony in a cabinet decision in 1997 decided the reconstruction of the castle began a new era. Today, the Royal Palace, the largest cultural site in the Free State of Saxony.

For a museum operation of the 21 Century and the necessary logistics have resulted from the historic site and its architectural structure but trouble. The roof of the little courtyard was an ingenious key to the modern development of the building.
The Green Vault as a baroque work of art in its original location since the 8th September 2004 to life again. The Cabinet of Prints and presents itself in the spacious rooms of the castle at its place of origin. The faithful reconstruction of the audience chamber and other magnificent rooms of Augustus the Strong and the Turkish Chamber are another attraction for visitors dar. same time be part of the Dresden Royal Palace a new course in art and science.
